Authorised Vehicle Repair & UK Road Compliance

Our Authorised Safety & UK Road Compliance Procedure

At Auto Avenue Birmingham Ltd, we take pride in offering high-quality, road-legal, and fully inspected vehicles, whether they are Japanese imports or low-damage category vehicles. Every car we sell undergoes a rigorous multi-step process to ensure it meets UK road safety regulations, passes thorough testing, and is fully prepared for its new owner. Our transparent and structured procedures guarantee compliance, reliability, and value, giving our customers complete peace of mind.

Japanese Import Procedure
1. Sourcing & Importation
Our trusted Japanese partners carefully bid and purchase the highest quality vehicles on our behalf.
Once secured, each vehicle undergoes pre-export checks in Japan before being shipped.
Vehicles arrive at Southampton Port, where they are cleared through customs and HMRC NOVA (Notification of Vehicle Arrival).
The cars are then transported to our storage facility for the next phase of inspection.

2. Initial Inspection & Compliance Modifications
Upon arrival, every vehicle undergoes a detailed in-house inspection, following our custom inspection sheet to ensure nothing is overlooked. This includes:
-Checking overall mechanical condition and verifying mileage against official records.
-Ensuring structural integrity, accident history, and general roadworthiness.
-Installing and adjusting safety features to meet UK road regulations:
-Rear Fog Light Installation – Mandatory for UK road safety.
-Headlight & Cluster Adjustments – Aligned to UK beam patterns and brightness standards.
-Tyre Inspection & Replacement (if necessary) – Must meet UK & European safety regulations.

3. Deep Cleaning & Underbody Inspection
Every vehicle undergoes a professional deep clean, including interior detailing and exterior polishing.
A full underbody rust inspection is carried out, and protective underseal treatment is applied if required to ensure durability on UK roads.

4. Road Compliance & DVLA Registration
Every vehicle must pass the correct safety certification process:
-IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) test for certain imports requiring further checks.
-MOT test to verify emissions, braking, lighting, and overall safety.
Once roadworthy, the vehicle is registered with the DVLA, and a UK registration number is assigned.

5. Extensive Road Testing & Sale Preparation
Each vehicle undergoes a 500+ mile road test to ensure smooth operation under real-world conditions.
A final pre-sale inspection includes:
-Full mechanical check (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension).
-Fluids, tyres, and electronics assessment.
-Interior and exterior review for quality assurance.

6. Warranty & Customer Assurance
We stand by the quality of our imports, which is why every Japanese import comes with:
-A 6-month warranty, covering key mechanical and electrical components.
-All required documentation, including MOT certificate, UK V5C logbook, and service history (if available).
-Full transparency on vehicle history, modifications, and safety compliance.
Once all checks are completed and the car meets our strict standards, it is officially listed for sale.
